Investor’s Corner

Western States Bank is 100% owned by Western States BanCorporation, headquartered in Laramie, Wyoming, and funded by shareholders throughout the communities we serve.

Western States Bank began serving clients of southeastern Wyoming, western Nebraska, and northern Colorado in 2006. The bank and its employees believe they know community banking and serve folks better than any of their competitors. One of the many ways Western States Bank excels beyond big banks is its focus on providing tailored banking services to its clients.

Our Story

Western States Bank serves a unique region where the Midwest meets the West. Resulting from a marriage between Valley Bank & Trust, Co. (est. 1996) and Wyoming State Bank (est. 2006) in 2016, Western States Bank realized the synergies of a merger, which made all branches and communities better and continues to do so. Therefore, our motto became a simple phrase – Better Together.

  • We are better at providing a financial backbone to our communities by enabling entrepreneurs to become successful.
  • We are better at setting the benchmark for community banking technology by strategically investing in leading-edge technologies.
  • We are better at providing above average and long-term returns to our shareholders.

Valley Bank & Trust Co. was well-established throughout the Western Nebraska region and specialized in agricultural lending and consumer banking.  They eventually spread to the Front Range in Northern Colorado. Wyoming State Bank started as a de novo bank in 2006 in Laramie, Wyoming and quickly grew to become a successful bank in the Southeastern corner of Wyoming.  So, the marriage made each bank Better Together by merging Valley Bank & Trust Co.’s experience and Wyoming State Bank’s technology. Today, Western States Bank is led by the following directors:

  • Gary Crum, Chairman of the Board
  • John Stinner, Vice Chairman
